At this time, adding Datasets from Data Cloud into widgets in your NinjaCat Report Templates is considered a ‘Limited Utility Feature.’ This means the feature is not yet fully developed and isn’t quite ready for widespread use in Report Templates.

Current Use Cases

There are a couple of specific use cases, outlined below, where assigning a Data Cloud Dataset to a Report Template widget can be useful. If you have one of these needs, we encourage you to try it out and share your feedback with us. For most other scenarios, we currently recommend sticking with provider-specific data sources when building your widgets. 

Here are some current use cases for using Datasets in Report Template widgets:

• Use a cleaned Dataset, edited in the Data Explorer, across many widgets to avoid repeated ‘Find & Replace’ rules made on a per-widget basis. For example, making global changes to elements such as ‘Campaign Name,’ ‘Ad Name’ or others across providers.
• Use a transformed Dataset, edited in the Data Explorer, where an additional column has been created by either extracting information from another column or by combining information from two different columns.

We will keep you posted on updates to this feature when more functionality and recommended use cases are available.

How to Access Data Cloud Data in the Template Builder

1. Access the Ninjacat Template Builder

2. Add a data widget to the template

3. Click on the plus next to "Data Sources" near the top right

4. Click on "Datasets" from the list of data sources

5. Select your desired dataset from the drop-down labeled "Dataset - Select a dataset"
