Setup Zapier

With NinjaCat’s direct integration with Zapier, you can link your NinjaCat account directly with over 750 different applications.

Before you get started, be sure to create your account with Zapier. To get an invitation to connect to NinjaCat’s integration with Zapier, you will need to click on the invitation link:

Connecting a Zapier Network

1. Go to the Setup Settings

2. Follow the instructions in the article Add a Direct Network Connection, selecting "Zapier" as the desired network

3. Enter a meaningful description for the type of Zap that you will be creating using this network

4. Click the “Add Network” button

5. Copy the API key that is generated

You will need this API key to complete the Zapier setup. Use a different API/Network for each type of Zap you wish to use in your account.

 

Create a Zap in Zapier

1. Log in to your Zapier account, or select “Sign Up” to create your account with Zapier

2. After logging in to your Zapier account, click on the Zapier invitation link from NinjaCat

3. On the following screen, click “Accept Invite & Go To Dashboard”

4. Select the app that will create the “trigger” for your Zap

5. Select the event that will trigger the creation of your Zap

For example, you could select a Zap to be generated every time a Lead is added in Salesforce.


6. Continue to configure your Zap and click the test button to make sure that your Zap is configured correctly

7. Search the Apps box for “NinjaCat”, then select the “Add Data” action and click “Save + Continue” to select the action that will take place when the Trigger is fired

8. Configure the NinjaCat account when prompted

9. If this is your first Zap, click on the “Connect a New Account” button

10. Enter your API key from the Connecting a Zapier Network section when prompted

The client name in your trigger must match exactly the name you created for your NinjaCat client account. Both the date and the client name are required fields in order to create a data record.  (use {{zap_meta_human_now}} as a date if your data does not include one natively).

11. After testing your Action to make sure that everything is configured correctly Click the “Finish” button

12. Give your Zap a name, turn it on, and wait for the Zapier network account to accumulate data!

Create Your Zapier Network Mapping

1. Go to the Setup Settings

2. Select the new Zapier Network you just created in the previous steps

3. Click on "More Actions" near the top right

5. FILL IN THE NEEDED INFORMATION IN EACH OF THE REQUIRED TABS

INFORMATION Tab

     1. Give the mapping a distinct Name Identifier5.png

Do you see the "Save" button near the bottom right? DON'T CLICK IT YET! You must follow the instructions to create at least one Dimension and one Metric in this Mapping before clicking Save. That button is the final step in creating the Mapping NOT an incremental "save" step.

For the next two tabs, Dimensions & Metrics, If the Zap was set up and connected to NinjaCat properly, the drop-down selector for "Header Mapping" should automatically populate.

DIMENSIONS Tab -- Repeat the instructions below for each dimension you need to pull from your sheet

  1. Click the "Add Dimensions" button near the center or top right6.png
  2. Fill in the needed fields in the "Dimension Editor" pop up window7.png
  • Name - A title for the Dimension that will be visible in the Template Builder
  • Header Mapping - Select the actual column from your sheet that contains the right data for the Dimension
  • Aggregation Mapping - (If appropriate) The common Dimension set that this data could fall under if being combined with data from other data sources
  • Display As - The specific format that the data from the sheet should be represented as

3. Click the "OK" button near the bottom right of the pop-up window after all the fields are filled

METRICS Tab -- Repeat the instructions below for each dimension you need to pull from your sheet

  1. Click the "Add Metrics" button near the center or top right8.png
  2. Fill in the needed fields in the "Metrics Editor" pop up window9.png
  • Name - A title for the Metric that will be visible in the Template Builder
  • Header Mapping - Select the actual column from your sheet that contains the right data for the Metric
  • Display As - The specific numeric format that the data from the sheet should be represented as
  • Calculate totals as... - For combining metric values choose Summation or Average
  • Aggregation Mapping - (If appropriate) The common Metric set that this data could fall under if being combined with data from other data sources

3. Click the "OK" button near the bottom right of the pop-up window after all the fields are filled

At this point, you can go ahead and click the "Save" button near the bottom left if you are done bringing in your Dimensions and Metrics to your Mapping from your spreadsheet file.

 

Using a Zapier Data Source in a Template

1. Access the Ninjacat Template Builder

2. Add a data widget to the template

3. Click on "Add Data Source" near the top right11.png

4. Click on "Custom Data" from the list of data sources12.png

5. Fill in the "Custom Data" pop-up window by addressing the fields:

  • Name - Give the data source entry a distinct label
  • Grouping - Select an account group (if creating a roll-up)
  • Data Source Type - Select "Zapier / Custom API" from the drop-down menu
  • Mapping - Select the Mapping that leads to the desired data14.png15.png

6. Click the "Close" button near the bottom right of the pop-up window10.png

Once a mapping is selected in the pop-up window, two buttons will now be available below the "Mapping" field. The "View Mapping" button will give you a view of the Dimensions and Metrics available through the Mapping. The "Edit Mapping" button will take you to the Edit Mappings area and allow you to make changes to the Mapping itself. When done you will be returned to the NinjaCat Template builder.
