Build a Roll-up Report / Dashboard Template
Roll-up reporting has many, powerful advantages for grouped reporting to customers and internal monitoring capabilities. There are a few specific settings to fully activate roll-up functionality in your template. This article explains them.
Activate Roll-up Reporting
1. Access the Ninjacat Template Builder
2. Create a new template or select the desired template from the list
3. Click on the fourth tab from the left of the four tabs at the top of the right side inspector panel (labeled with a globe icon)
4. Toggle on (toggled right) the "Roll-up Report" switch to enable the template to roll up data for account groups rather than only showing data for a single account
Select Grouping In Widget
2. Follow the instructions in the article Configuring a Data Widget to produce data from the widget
3. After the first step of adding the data source to the widget, click on the "pencil" icon to the right of the data source entry in the Data Sources section of the widget settings
4. Click on the drop-down menu under "Grouping" in the resulting fly-over window
5. Select the desired account group from the menu
6. Click the "Close" button near the bottom right of the fly-over window
If you've got more than one data source in your widget, you'll need to repeat this step for each one.
7. Select an account at the top of your template from the accounts drop-down that contains a value in its Account Group field that links its data to the data of other specified Accounts
While you're getting used to roll-up widgets, it's a great idea to include the Account Dimension in your widgets - this will segment the data by account for easy data verification. If you're using multiple data sources, it might be a good idea to use the Data Source Dimension as well to verify your data, especially if you're using aggregate metrics.
8. Click on the "Save" button near the top right to save your template!
