How to Find Your User API Token

The User API Token (which is also sometimes called an "API Key") is a unique identifier generated by a Simpli.fi user to allow a third-party application like NinjaCat access to the data in their account. Here is the step-by-step instructions on how to generate, or find your existing, Simpli.fi User API Token.

  1. Log in at app.simpli.fi using your Simpli.fi credentials

  2. Once logged in, click on "Admin" from the top menu options to reveal the Admin Menu

  3. From the Admin Menu click on "User Settings" from the list of options

  4. Click on "API Key" from the list of User Settings near the left of the screen

  5. If necessary, click "Generate" if an API Key does not already exist, or "Regenerate" to create a new one

  6. Copy your API Key and paste it in the "User API Token" field under the Simpli.fi Network Settings

How to Find Your Top-Level Organization ID

Simpli.fi offers several tools to organize your accounts in their programmatic marketing platform, one of which is the ability to "nest" one of your organizations hierarchically under another. When granting Simpli.fi access to a third-party application like NinjaCat, it is necessary to specify which organization's data you would like to make available by providing the desired "Top Level Organization ID" (sometimes called "Org ID"). Here are step-by-step instructions on how to find the top-level Organization ID in Simpli.fi

  1. Log in at app.simpli.fi using your Simpli.fi credentials

  2. Once logged in, click on "Admin" from the top menu options to reveal the Admin Menu

  3. From the Admin Menu click on "Organizations" from the list of options

  4. From the list of your account's Organizations search for the highest level of the hierarchy containing the organizations you would like to make available to NinjaCat, then click on it to select it

📘

Selecting an Organization lower than the very top level will prevent data from some of the other organizations in your account from being available in NinjaCat. It is recommended that you search for and select the highest level Organization in your Simpli.fi account at this stage of the setup.

  1. Copy the top-level Organization's "Organization ID" number (or "Org ID") which is found near the top right corner of the organization's form

  2. Paste the Org ID in the "Top Level Organization ID" field under the Simpli.fi Network Settings

Adding the Data Source

  1. Go to the Setup Settings

  2. Follow the instructions in the article How to Connect a Direct Data Network Connection to begin the process of making the Network connection

  3. Fill in the required fields on the Network Settings page with the requested credentials

  4. Check the boxes that correspond to the specific report types you'd like to pull data for

Click the "Add Network" button near the bottom right

Connecting Advertiser Specific Integration Data to a NinjaCat Account

  1. Follow the instructions in the article How to Add a Single Data Connection to a NinjaCat Account to begin the process of making the client-specific data connection

  2. Fill in the required fields on the Connect Data Source page by using the provided drop-down menus or by typing in the requested credentials or information

Click "Connect" near the bottom right

📘

If you need to connect multiple instances of the same data source to one account follow the steps in the article How To Add Multiple Instances of a Single Data Source

Associate Simpli.fi with a Data Cloud Dataset

After you have added Simpli.fi as a native data source (using the steps above), you can also associate it with a Data Cloud dataset. This allows you to use Simpli.fi data within NinjaCat's Data Cloud for advanced reporting, transformations, and combined datasets.

📘

Important Distinction

Adding Simpli.fi as a native data source (described in the sections above) connects NinjaCat to your Simpli.fi account and pulls in your data. Associating it with a dataset (described below) takes that connected data and makes it available in Data Cloud for more advanced use cases like custom fields, SQL transforms, and combined datasets.

How to Associate Simpli.fi with a Dataset

  1. Navigate to Setup Settings and locate your Simpli.fi network connection in the list
  2. Click on the Simpli.fi network to open its Network Settings
  3. Find the compatibility group that is enabled for your Simpli.fi connection
  4. Click the "Associate with dataset" button on the compatibility group

Your Simpli.fi data will now be available as a dataset in Data Cloud, where you can explore, transform, and combine it with other datasets.

⚠️

Common Confusion

Simpli.fi does not appear in the list when trying to add a new data provider connection through Data Cloud's "Add Data Source" flow. This is expected — Simpli.fi is associated with a dataset through the Network Settings path described above, not through the Data Cloud connector list. If you're looking for Simpli.fi in the Data Cloud connection list and can't find it, use the Network Settings approach instead.
