Performance Max in Google Ads Datasets: What's Supported
Performance Max in Google Ads Datasets: What's Supported
Performance Max (PMax) is a Google Ads campaign type that runs across all Google channels — Search, Display, YouTube, Discover, Gmail, and Maps — from a single campaign. Because PMax behaves differently from traditional Google Ads campaign types, customers often ask which PMax data is available in NinjaCat datasets and reports.
This page summarizes what's supported today, based on what NinjaCat has shipped through the Google Ads integration.

What PMax data is available
Channel-level reporting through the Network dimension (since v24, 2026-06-11)
With the Google Ads API v24 upgrade, Performance Max now reports channel-level data through the existing Network dimension. Where PMax previously reported aggregate-only metrics, you can now see which Google channels your PMax campaigns are running on. No configuration changes are required — the new channel values appear automatically in reports that use the Network dimension.
Search Term and Search Term Match Source (since 2026-02-13)
The Search Term and Search Term Match Source dimensions are available for Performance Max campaigns. You can select these dimensions in Google Ads reports to see search terms attributed to your PMax campaigns alongside any advertiser-provided keywords.
Dedicated PMax-related reports (since 2025-03-23)
Four reports were added to the Google Ads integration to expand PMax visibility:
- Asset Group Report — reports at the Asset Group level (PMax's equivalent of an ad group structure).
- Campaign Asset Report — campaign-level asset reporting.
- Performance Max Placement Report — placement-level data for PMax. Supports the impressions metric only.
- Search Term Performance Report — search-term-level reporting.
Known limitations
- Performance Max Placement Report supports impressions only. If you need metrics other than impressions for PMax, use a different report and apply the Advertising Channel filter for Performance Max.
- Click-type segmentation is not available in the Campaign Asset Report. Click-type segmentation continues to work in other Google Ads report types.
- Call-Only Ad Phone Number is no longer returned in ad-level reports. This field was removed when the Google Ads API was upgraded to v24.
Recommended report types for PMax-heavy accounts
| You want to analyze... | Use... |
|---|---|
| Overall PMax performance by channel | A standard Google Ads report that includes the Network dimension. |
| Asset Group performance | Asset Group Report. |
| Campaign-level assets | Campaign Asset Report (note: no click-type segmentation). |
| Placements (impressions only) | Performance Max Placement Report. |
| Search terms attributed to PMax | Search Term Performance Report, or a standard Google Ads report with the Search Term / Search Term Match Source dimensions. |
| Metrics for PMax that aren't supported in the Placement Report | A standard Google Ads report with an Advertising Channel = Performance Max filter. |
