Google Ads video watch time metrics (average & total video watch time)

July 23rd, 2026

Two new Google Ads metrics are available in reporting: average video watch time and total video watch time. You can add both to Google Ads Campaign Performance report widgets to see how long viewers spend watching your video ads, with values matching what you see in the Google Ads interface.

Important usage caveat — how Google reports this data
Google does not publish these metrics for individual days when a campaign is below a minimum interaction threshold. Daily figures come back as zero or near-zero even when the value for the full month is large. What this means in practice:

• ✅ Works: report widgets over any date range — campaign-level, monthly, or full-period. NinjaCat fetches these metrics as a consolidated total for the period you select, so the values are exact.
• ⚠️ Shows zeros: day-by-day breakdowns. This is Google withholding the data, not a NinjaCat gap — you'll see the same zeros in the Google Ads interface's own daily views for low-volume campaigns.
• ❌ Not Supported: These metrics are not currently supported in datasets due to current limitations. We're actively exploring options to make them available in the future and will share updates as progress is made.
